The majority of the characters were huge and their relationships and connections got just the right amount of build-up in order to prepare us for the endless pain train that was to come. I loved the powerful character building and the sheer complexity put behind the main cast.
I liked the mystery around everything - characters and groups alike. It felt like Kaneki was so powerful yet he had no power at all because all of the important knowledge was way out of his reach. I liked the complete lack of information. High levels of tension maintained throughout the entire story - stressful situations never stopped coming and kept me on edge. Really strong antagonist cast with a deeply menacing vibe.
Personally I strongly prefer the Original.
